Greetings from the Bear Hug Band crew! We wanted to give everyone an update on the new album and what’s been going on with us. Several months ago we settled on a name for the new album and it looks like it will be titled “Our God is Powerful!” We threw all of the lyrics of the new songs into a pot, turned the water on to boil, and three themes rose to the top: God’s power over our sin, His power over death, and His power to create. It only seemed natural to follow suit and name the album accordingly. No. Sorry. Wait. It’s not “Accordingly,” but “Our God is Powerful!” right? I think I meant “accordingly” in its normal adverbial sense, not as a designated title. Although, it could work - the album is mainly polka, after all (not really, sadly).
Now that the whole album title business is out of the way, we want to give you guys a three part update with some details. So, if you’re ready, we’ll begin. Ready?
Are you sure?
You don’t look it. No offence. I’m just being honest. It’s ok. I’ll wait, and you just let me know.
Still not ready?
Ok, here’s what we’ll do. I’ll continue giving updates, and if you are ready you can continue reading them. If you’re not ready, or just don’t care, here’s your chance to abandon ship. Fair warning, if you choose to stop now, you will be missing out on some exciting news… well, it’s exciting to us at least!
Part One – Album Content: Almost all of the music has been recorded. We really wanted to say “all” instead of “almost” but we after to listening to all the songs in sequence we decided to re-write three of them. We’ll go into the studio to record those soon, as well as some vocal touch ups and kids choir stuff. Yeah! After that, all the songs will be ready for mixing and mastering! Double yeah! This is only part of the project, however. In addition to the music, we want the album to include some dialogue and some teaching and some humorous skits and the like. The first draft of the script for this has been completed (huzzah!) and we already have a list of edits. Hopefully that will be done within the week!
Part Two – Financial Support: Again, a huge thank you for those who have supported us financially. It’s means a ton, and has been a wonderful encouragement at times when we have felt like giving up. We still have a long way to go in order completely fund the project, and we wanted to tell everyone who has donated so far that we are currently looking to close the GoFundMe account and re-launch the project on a different website. We spoke with several people who know more than we do (it’s not that hard to find them – we’re not that smart), and they suggested a website called PledgeMusic. Similar to GoFundMe or Kickstarter, but designed with musicians in mind, it would more effectively meet our needs. This will mean that we will have to cash out all of the donations on GoFundMe, but they will be transferred to the new website and credited to the total project costs. We will record a video for the project re-launch and have one of the songs mixed. All this to say: it will look like a new project, and that we are asking for donations again, but we are not – just transferring the project. ALSO (THIS IS REALLY COOL), we are in the process of getting some of the rewards ready for those who have contributed! Within the next month we hope to have the Chipmunk EP finished and mailed out (huzzah!)
Part Three – A Big Opportunity and Needed Prayer: This is the exciting news that was mentioned earlier! It’s not official yet, so we can’t say much in detail, but we have been given a great opportunity to partner with a ministry that can distribute our albums nationwide (huzzah!) (that’s one “huzzah” per section!). We are hoping to re-release Who’s Got Their Armor On? in time for Easter – which is coming close, so it might be a summer release – and the new album will come out this summer! Unless the re-release is in the summer… then the new album will be released in the fall. Either way, we’ll make a BIG announcement for both! We ask for and appreciate your prayers! There are a lot of details to work out! Why am I using so many exclamation points! That was a question, not a statement! Oh boy…
So keep your eyes open for a re-launch of the new project, the Chipmunk EP, and release dates for both the old and new records. Thanks for reading!
Thank you for visiting!
Please keep us in your prayers as we seek the Lord on how to use the gifts He has given us to help spread the good news about Jesus and His kingdom and make disciples in His name.
